The Initiative on Migrants, Migration and Human Dignity is led by a team of Fordham professors who engage students, faculty, and staff in the urgent challenges created by global migration. They stand in solidarity with migrants and members of our community who are affected by migration policies.
Deliverables included the logo which consisted of an icon with accompanying type.
Fordham University’s Initiative on Migrants, Migration and Human Dignity believes that the dignity and uniqueness of all persons is core to the University mission.
The research and discussed vision brought the team at IMMHD and I to the final version of the icon at the center with surrounding type, reflective of a badge. The iconography reflects a looped butterfly (a nod to the monarch butterfly which is a strong symbol of migration justice) that invokes the interconnected nature of migration and thus the solidarity that migration justice invokes. The icon can be easily replicated on paper as needed which was also an intentional decision taken into account when designing. With a clean type and warm colors, the completed logo exudes the playful yet elegant approach the team envisioned!

As part of the deliverables, I also put together a cohesive color palette that could also seamlessly match with the Fordham Maroon as needed. The final result was a vibrant red-orange, golden yellow and pale olive green as seen here in the looped and minimalist butterfly icon.
